The music event of the year concluded last week, following two weekends of trending moments, music headliners, and plenty of celebs. But we mostly care about the fashion, of which there was plenty, including latex! Below are some of our favorite trends and looks from Coachella 2023.
We have to start by talking about Rosalia, who wore Vex for her Coachella performance. The singer opted for a look that balanced edgy and sexy with soft and flirty, wearing a black bustier top with black leather pants from Vex. She topped it off with a sheer, baby pink robe, featuring lace up details from Acne Studios. What made her look stand out even more was her backup dancers, who wore all-black ensembles with black helmets.
It might take place in the desert, but there were plenty of leather looks at the festival, on both celebs and festival goers. During the festival’s first weekend, a number of entertainers sported leather on stage but all were unique. Swae Lee’s fringed leather jacket was paired with jeans and a cowboy hat, giving a nod to the western desert roots. For their appearance, City Girls went for an edgier vibe, wearing similar sets featuring black wrap tops and bottoms with cutouts paired with thigh high leather boots. Another performer to opt for leather was Katie Gavin, lead singer of MUNA, who rocked a two piece leather set on stage. The singer wore a bralette with high waisted briefs over tights for a standout look.
Last, but certainly not least, was Bjork who did not disappoint for her Coachella appearance. The singer’s first stage look was a leather dress from Ninomiya's Fall/Winter 2021 collection, worn over a glittery mesh bodysuit. Up top, the bodice featured spikes, and on the bottom, the dress had a large, wiry skirt worn over it. Bjork continued to turn out looks throughout her set that were anything but typical festival wear.
One trend that feels natural for the hot desert is the naked dress, typically seen in the form of longer, maxi style dresses in sheer or mesh fabrics. They’re often paired with crop tops or matching two piece sets worn underneath the dress. Irina Shayk wore a very sexy version of this trend, featuring a black sheer dress worn over black briefs and paired with a choker and minimalist hair.
One guest sported a chainmail version of the trend, worn over a bikini and paired with combat boots. The look was both trendy and functional, and easily imitable. Another attendee, who later performed as a dancer in one of the weekend’s sets, chose a black, sheer women’s dress worn over denim cutoff shorts and worn with lug sole boots.
Black Pink’s Coachella performance served looks and satisfied many trends, including leather. But they also wore one trend that’s still thriving: pink. Ahead of theBarbie movie, Barbie pink is still very much alive and well. Black Pink opted for a softer, ballet pink for their performance, giving it a sexier vibe by pairing it with corsets and other lingerie-style pieces.
Alessandra Ambrosio wasn’t a performer but she certainly stood out at the festival thanks to her colorful ensemble. The model wore a pink and purple tie dye cropped jacket with pink sunglasses and even pink hair, for a fun and cheerful festival look.
Elsewhere, festival goers opted for the bright, hot pink most typically associated with Barbie. From pink tulle, to pink crop tops and joggers, the color was everywhere and we don’t expect it to disappear anytime soon.
